Welcome to the Publosophy Blog!
What’s Publosophy you ask? It’s philosophy in the pub. Probably one of the simplest concepts ever developed in philosophy!
On the first Wednesday of each month, philosophy-loving enthusiasts (by no means experts) catch up at a local pub and talk about some of the biggest questions and concepts in philosophy. There’s nothing academic about so leave your tweed coat and pipe at home. This is pub talk where we get to ask stupid (smart) questions and figure out the answers for ourselves.
Sometimes we have guest speakers. Sometimes it’s just a conversation about a topic that hopefully inspires lots of questions and debate.
The one thing we always try to do is to leave the pub a little bit smarter than when we arrived. Some philosophers would argue that’s impossible!
The video below is from our first meet-up where we were lucky enough to have one of Newcastle’s most prominent and prolific philosophers, Russell Blackford as guest speaker.
If you love big questions and a good chat, then come along. You don’t have to know anything about philosophy to join in the conversation.
And come back here at least once a month for more blog posts and event details so you never miss out.
The only thing we know, is that we know nothing! (Thanks Socrates for the heads up)
